Before doing the readings for this session, I was pretty unclear about what digital storytelling is. At first I thought this would be something like documentary film making and as such would require a great deal of knowledge about technology. However, the readings indicate that digital storytelling does not necessarily require any kind of technological expertise. Reading about how relatively easy and intuitive digital storytelling can be, caused me to give serious consideration to creating these kinds of projects with my students.
Technology Standards
The standards given by the ISTE seem extremely relevant given the access to technology that students have. I wonder how much consideration is given to these standards nation wide. I know that the school where I work does not give any real consideration to technology standards and I would not be surprised if my experience is similar to other students in this class.
