The article that really struck me this week was the "7 things you should know about Digital Storytelling", prior to reading this article, I had not heard of digital storytelling , this reading was very informative and provided clear, concise details. I deem digital storytelling can be used to reflect deeply about a particular topic, it requires you to know about the topic well enough to create your own narrative.
This method of information sharing is powerful and effective in a multitude of ways, especially for the visual learner , this can bring alive a topic that may be complex for some children or even adults to understand. Digital Storytelling combines visual, audio and text to express an idea! When I was reading this article, I was thinking about if I would have seen a digital story about some math facts, it would have helped me to grasp a deeper understanding about certain concepts. This methodology also, allows the child who may have a problem with writing for example to still create a narrative to convey their knowledge. In this digital age, teens who are already computer savvy, and educators could tap into this knowledge by presenting this to their class as another way to "show what they know", instead of having the students write a traditional paper, they could create a digital story! I think this is a great component to knowledge sharing and for accommodating for various individual learning styles.
