I found Will Richardson’s blog post about the MacArthur Foundation Report to be quite intriguing because he mentions that the use of technology allows students to have freedom of expression and it is an empowering tool. It is wonderful to engage students through the use of technology mediums they are familiar with, however when students have all the say over what they can produce, can this cause a problem either academically of socially? I agree that students often learn best through their peers, yet my concern would be “peer pressure” or even “cyber bullying”. How does a teacher go about setting the learning goals with the use of new media? Is it even possible to prevent inappropriate use of the internet when it is brought into the classroom as a learning tool? How do teachers set boundaries?
